    1. Gulmarg Gondola, Jammu & Kashmir

    Going over the Kongdori valley in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the Gulmarg gondola is the second-highest working ropeway in the whole world. The ropeway starts from the Kondoori Mountain, close to the Aparwath peak, about 4200 meters in height, and goes on to cover a total distance of 2.5 km. The gondola runs from 10 am (IST) to 5 pm (IST). One gondola carries six people at a time. The total duration of the ride is about 21 minutes and is completed in two stages of 9 and 12 minutes each respectively.

    Solang is a side diversion of the main valley at the top of the Kullu Valley in Himachal Pradesh which lies on the way to the Rohtang Pass near Manali which is 14 km away from there. The ride starts at Solang valley and ends at Mt. Phatru at an elevation of about 3200 m. The gondola ride completes in about 10 mins.

    The second-longest ropeway in all of Asia only falls short of the Gulmarg ropeway, the Auli ropeway. The scenic sights of the ever so majestic Himalayas result in it being a major tourist attraction in Auli due to its high altitude providing gorgeous views of the snow-capped peaks. The cable car covers a distance of 4 km which takes 20 mins to reach Auli with scenic sights of the Himalayas and the forests under.

    The oldest ropeway in India which also happens to be the only ropeway in Bihar, the Rajgir ropeway takes you to a height of 400m showcasing picture-perfect views on the ride. It takes you to Vishwashanti Stupa atop the Ratnagiri hill.

    5. Rangeet Valley Cable Car, Darjeeling, West Bengal

    From Singamari to Singla Bazar descending from an altitude of 7000 ft all the way down to 800 ft in 45 minutes, the Rangeet valley cable car in Darjeeling is one of the oldest ropeways in India. One of the best ways to experience the lush green hill and valleys and spreads of tea gardens and the eastern part of the Himalayan range also including the Kanchenjunga. You can get there from Singamari which is 3 km away from Darjeeling Chowk Bazaar.

The ropeway which starts at Deorali market stops at two places: Namnang and Tashiling while going as high as 3500m. The lowest station is at Deorali Bazaar near the Institute of Tibetology.

    Taking you to the top of Trike Pahar from the base of the hill is the Trikut ropeway which is also known as Gagan khatola. within 10 minutes it takes passengers to a height of 1282 feet, which otherwise, would be a very difficult journey. The length of the cable is a whopping 2500 ft making sure a journey that is very scenic and pleasurable with plenty of beautiful and breathtaking sights all around them.

    8. Bhedaghat Ropeway, Dhuandhaar, Madhya Pradesh

    To get to this breathtaking spectacle of a waterfall also known as the Dhuandhar waterfalls on the river Narmada from either the east or the west bank, one has to take the cable car service available at the entrance of Bhedaghat. It goes across the Narmada river from the East to the west bank giving the passengers a breathtaking panoramic view of the river. This ropeway standing at 1140 m long is one of the best ways to experience the river and the falls and is located about 25 km away from the city of Jabalpur.

One of the best things to do in Vadodara, Gujarat is has become very popular for being a non-crowdy and scenic visit to the Mahakali temple.     Operating in the town of Shimla, the Jakhu ropeway connects the Jakhu temple to the ridge ground covering a total distance of about 8 km in the process. One can enjoy beautiful aerial scenes, the Jakhu temple, the surrounding forests, and the town of Shimla. The 108 feet tall statue of Lord Hanuman is also visible from the ropeway. This particular statue is the world’s tallest statue of the deity also at the highest altitude of over 8100 ft.

It is said that along with the Vaishno Mata, the pilgrim to Bhairav Baba is also necessary but the journey to Vaishno Devi is so exhausting for the devotees that the further journey to Bhairav Baba becomes very difficult.
